International Car Forest

Painted vehicles apart of the International Car Forest of the Last Church which is creator Mark Rippie’s desire to create an “artists’ playground” with dozens of old junkers stacked or embedded in the ground serving as canvasses in Goldfield, Nevada. Begun in 2011, more than 40 rusted, aging vehicles are spread over a half a mile in various juxtapositions to the barren desert. Each are painted with distinctive art and serve as a backdrop for a variety of portraits and explorations.
